United States set on a high Ransomware Attack alert

Written by

As Russia has waged a war with Ukraine from the early hours of February 24, 2022, White House administration, under the leadership of Biden, has issued a high alert that there was a possibility that ransomware could attack its critical infrastructure; as it has issued an order to press sanctions against Russia for launching a war against its neighboring nations.

Just after the first explosion that took place at 3:30 am today, Putin issued a statement that if his nation observes any outside interference in its war with Kiev, then the foreign nation needs to bear serious consequences in form of hybrid warfare.

Military experts suggest that the first thing the Russian Intelligence will do to its adversaries is to launch digital attacks on the IT infrastructure operating Power stations, nuclear systems and water utilities. And the plan will be to take control of such critical assets and then threaten the entire nation with some dreadful consequences.

By indulging in such tactics, Russia will achieve two points- One to warn the nations against supporting Ukraine and two is to sneak into the infrastructure of the adversaries and siphon intelligence that can be used against it in the future.

Biden has condemned Russian invasion of Ukraine as unfair and alerted state and local leaders along with some high-level business executives to bolster their defense-line against state funded cyber attacks such as ransomware attacks.

Note- On Friday last week, EU has sent a Cyber Rapid Response Team (CRRT) to Ukraine to help it combat Russian threat actors. And Lithuanian Ministry confirmed the news and added that the cyber team was sent on the request from Ukrainian government.
